Founded by Luyolo Dlikilili, the name “Bau” began in childhood. At 1 to 2 years old, Luyolo’s stutter led him to mispronounce the kasi slang “bra” — meaning “brother.” The name stuck, and “Bau” became a beloved part of his identity.

During high school, Luyolo’s passion for fashion and visual art took root in the townships of the Eastern Cape. From that energy, BAU INSTYLE was born.
