Brickmakers Distilling Co. was founded in 2016 by WE Coertzen, inspired by a timeless family tradition of distilling & liqueur making. The craft was carried over from “oom Willem”, his grandfather from a small rural town in Zastron, Freestate. In early 2017 Rhino Rum was launched, the original signature rum from Willem jr. In the years that followed, Spiced Rhino, a liqueur made with rum, locally sourced citrus and spices were added, followed by White Rhino. To date various batches of interesting spirits have been distilled using the splendid and unique fruits and plants from the Eastern Cape. diOxygin is a perfect example of this, it boasts the flavour of a particular mandarin variety grown in the Eastern Cape with added Spekboom which is debatably indigenous to the Eastern Cape.
